ONE GOAL: $0 to a living wage in 10 weeks

CHALLENGES

TIP is proud to celebrate hundreds of graduates who have completed the program to become apprentices, team members and leaders all over Southwestern PA and beyond.

We recognize that everyone here is human, has made mistakes and needs to learn and grow in his or her own way. Many of our instructors and mentors have been in their shoes before. When we say, “We understand,” it isn’t lip service. It’s the truth.

THE NECESSITIES

Our students lack what many people take for granted. Some of the highest need items include boots, clothing, bus passes and grocery store gift cards.

If you’re able to help with any of these items, please contact us.

A NEW WAY OF THINKING

If people can change the way they think, they can change everything. It starts with trauma-informed counseling and helping our students recognize their strengths. Many of our students have never had true positive feedback on a job well done.

From there, TIP staff assist students with an individualized goal-setting plan and wrap-around services. This assistance might include accessing housing, health care, child care, and driver’s licenses and identification.

SET FOR SUCCESS

Once a mindset has been changed and a skill has been acquired, we want to keep building them up and giving them the right tools and ongoing support. From resume writing and starting the process of reapplying for a driver’s license to classes in self-care, financial literacy, computer literacy and building healthy relationships, we teach them the skills they need to thrive.

PAY IT FORWARD

The TIP experience does not end when someone graduates. Our doors are wide open — from our monthly alumni programming and networking events to continual resume and career support, changing lives is an on-going commitment.

YOUR VOICE CAN HELP

TIP couldn’t be more hopeful about the progress we’re making, but our vision is far from complete and needs your assistance. We’re changing policies to close the skilled trades and living wage gaps. Plus, we’re empowering our students to rebuild their lives and supplying much-needed talent to repair and rebuild our region. In short, we’re looking to put people to work. People like you.
